Personal project

Stereotypes based on gender can cause inequality and unequal treatment because of a person’s identity. These stereotypes are negative because they do not allow full personal expressivity and emotionality. Can a man also be docile, graceful, sexually inexperienced, and emotional? What makes a man a man? Nothing you can label or define, just everything that makes a man the best version of himself.

In a series of in-studio staged photographs, I decided to explore male expressivity. I used oranges, a fruit, as an alluding symbol for fertility, which is stereotypically linked to femininity, as a choice that serves precisely to contrast the male figure with a female allegory.
