Bright and colorful, ornate and elegant, OCTO incense holder invites you to a new vibrant approach to spiritual and self-care wellness practices. The geometric code is strongly visible in the language of the High Renaissance and Italian neoclassicism from the end of the XV century and throughout the whole XVI century, the key essence for my design inspiration.
After an analysis of the current state of affairs and trend research, I opted to focus on the rise of self-care and spirituality, as a by-product of liberalism within society and the need for reassurance in face of the biggest crisis of human history: climate change. Below is a mind map of the research and reasoning.
Between the square and the circle, the masculine and the feminine, certainty and eternity, the octagon is the definition of transition and renewal.
Three are the main shapes available, the Minor, the Medium, and the Magno. All colors can be customized. The aim of this project was to create a product, which would then be sold in a shop. Therefore all the packaging, marketing, branding, sales, and production had to be ready in a span of a five-week period. OCTO is currently being sold on the shelves of the art museum Lugano Arte e Cultura (LAC) in Ticino, Switzerland.
